360 videos have been created with a special set of cameras to record all 360 degrees of a scene simultaneously. This means that when the video is playing, you can view it from different angles.
You may see 360 videos in your News Feed if you are using Facebook on the web, Facebook for Android and Facebook for iOS. For the web you need to be using Chrome or FireFox browsers. For Android, you need to update your app to the latest version and having a device no older than 2012. For iOS you also need to update your app and be using versions 5 and above. At the moment, Facebook only supports monoscopic viewing.
No. However, 360 videos will not auto-play on your mobile device, regardless of your individual auto-play settings
360 videos are larger than normal video files and may take longer to download because of their size. Today, 360 videos will autoplay only on the web and when your phone is connected to Wi-Fi. While you can click to play 360 videos while using mobile data on your device, they will not autoplay.

Similar to producing traditional videos, 360 video production varies in cost. One of the larger added cost with 360 video is in post production, where stitching multiple camera feeds takes longer than with traditional video.
Instead of delivering the entire video in high resolution, we only stream the part you’re looking at in the highest quality. Doing this lets us quadruple the resolution and quality, while reducing the amount of bandwidth consumed by 4x. This is just one example of how Facebook is driving VR software forward.
360 videos can be very large, which means they take extra time to complete the uploading and encoding process. In some cases we have seen this take a few hours. If you are still having trouble completing the process after several hours please let us know by emailing facebook360@fb.com.

Yes, you can embed a 360 video like you would any other video on Facebook. On web, people can click and drag with their mouse to change the perspective of the video. 360 video embeds are not supported on mobile browsers.
Anyone will be able to upload 360 videos provided the video they are uploading contains the metadata necessary for the video to be recognized as 360 content.
If the video was recorded on a 360 or spherical camera that automatically adds the 360 metadata, then the process will be the same as uploading a regular video.
To determine if your camera and its software automatically add 360 metadata, refer to the camera's manual or the camera maker's website.
If the 360 video was recored on a camera that doesn't automatically add the 360 metadata, then you'll need to attach 360 metadata for it to render correctly. After the 360 metadata has been added to your video file, follow these directions to add the video to your Timeline.
